This is the second of three dresses for Frocktober. As you can see I've joined the McCalls 6069 bandwagon. This is an easy dress to sew but takes longer than the one hour recommended on the pattern jacket.
I plan to wear it to a Melbourne Cup luncheon next week. The fabric is so perfect for this dress, purchased on line for $7 a metre.
I'm nearly finished a more complicated project, so am on target to complete my Frocktober challenge.
I love your version, the belt and border fabric make it really special. Enjoy the Melbourne Cup lunch, do you need to wear a hat to that, is it like Royal Ascot in the UK?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty dress, the fabric is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you also have the hat to match Gail. Nice stuff.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress. I love the fabric - it's so perfect for this style, the border is just right and the drape is lovely. You're going to look wonderful at the lunch!
ReplyDeleteI love it. the border print looks so nice on dresses. looking good!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. I really like the fabric with the border detail. This dress also took me more than an hour to sew too! Did you have problems with the back strap?

ReplyDeleteGreat dress, you look lovely! Another one to add to the shopping list...
ReplyDeleteLove the dress and the shoes. When I made this I had to omit the pockets. Didn't need to accentuate my hips!
ReplyDeleteOo... love the print! Great dress!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful. I love the draped neckline.
ReplyDeleteNice print, especially with the border. Enjoy the lunch, you will look very good.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I had planned to make this dress out of a border print, but I was worried about it stretching lengthwise, so I didn't. I can see that I will have many of these this summer. It's such an easy wearing dress.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress and have fun on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteThat neckline looks most elegant. have fun at the luncheon, hope you back a winner.
ReplyDeleteLooks great Gail! I like it with the belt too - is that a horse's head on the buckle - how fitting!
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect! I love the bottom band of fabric and you look wonderful in it. Surely your husband assumed much beautiful wife
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'm actually wearing my version of this dress to work today. It's a little chilly, so I've paired it with tights, tall boots and a cardigan - suddenly my "Easter" dress is perfect for fall. Just a thought on how to extend it's life once you're into cooler weather. :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty dress - I love border prints! The black and white would be awesome with bright coloured shoes too, it'll be so versatile!

ReplyDeleteThis will be perfect for a Melbourne Cup lunch! You even have the mandatory black-and-white covered (at which I always fail), and with such great style!
ReplyDeleteGail, this dress suits you so well. The fabric is amazing, I really love the border print. This dress is such a versatile style that I am sure you will wear it many places, I can see it dressed up or down.
